Debbie Shapiro M.S. GC-C
Gerontologist & Certified Grief Counselor
Thank you for visiting my website and for considering using me as your guide while you mourn your grief.
As someone who has lived for many years, I have experienced each of the areas of loss identified on my front page; both directly and through close proximity to others. These experiences have helped form my intimate understanding of the effect life’s ever changing circumstances can have on us across the life span.
In the past I have had to work through much of my own mourning in isolation. During these times, I felt sad, lonely, and out-of-sync with the rest of the world, Over time, I came to realize that these feelings would have been less intense and long-lasting had I received validation and support from others in my hours of need. It was these experiences that led me to become a Grief Counselor.
Over the years, I have had the honor to guide others from a wide range of cultural, socio-economic and age groups as they processed their grief and adapted to their changed circumstances. Supporting others on their journey has given me an acute appreciation for the uniquely personal nature of grief and ways to mourn.
My passion is to provide support and understanding tailored to the unique needs of each person as they reconcile their loss and find meaning in their newly-emerging life. My approach is empathetic and non-judgmental. In my practice, I offer each client a range of techniques and resources that can aid them in healing their heart and soul. I see my role as companion, guide, and student; learning alongside each person as they set the pace and manner of their mourning.
Because I know that finding the right person to support and guide you through your mourning is an important decision, I would be happy to speak with you and share more about my approach and services before you make such a major decision. To set up a meeting time please click here:
